ABOUT
The idea of organizing conference on migration and media awareness(CMMA) a forum for media practitioners, journalists, politicians, policy makers, activists civil societies and people with or without flight and migration experience biyearly, was first conceived in 2017 by Larry Macaulay, founder of Refugee Radio Network with close friends and associates who thought it important that intellectual discussions and debates that are often organized by mainstream governmental and non-governmental organizations should also be extended to the grassroots level in solidarity with marginalized groups, migrants / refugees irrespective of his/her location, social class, political position, belief or status and be translated to a platform which would expand the conversation build new Counterculture narrative that lead to a peaceful coexistence of cultures, eliminate the fear of stranger and show the beauty, colors and diversity of a cosmopolitan society.
The CMMA 2020/21 is a three-day conference which convenes approximately 350 participants from 4 continents, 30 countries and over 100 institutions to engage in discussions with key stake holders policy makers, educators, social workers, activists, bloggers, journalist, representatives of communities.
This year, CMMA2020 Conference theme is “Looking Back, Thinking Ahead”
The forum reminisces on a past with information and education deficit on the topic of migration in many countries, and a bold vision on helping define what migration of the present should look like and how they will meet the needs of our communities: today and into the future.
Managing Change in a Post Pandemic Era, we hope to use this forum to advocate for more inclusion, diversity, and participation within the Media and Art sector (community & mainstream). And also to Strengthen alliances towards Migrants’ & Refugees’ Rights and Solidarity in an hate-free society.
